2004 Open Track Challenge

2002 Pro Fabrication Sports Racer Sedan

Corporate Computer Centers is once again competing in the Open Track Challenge.  This year's event, the Paul Mumford Memorial Open Track Challenge (name in honor of our late racing comrade and multiple OTC winner Paul Mumford) features five top level tracks in five days.  Each is in a different city with over the road travel covering more than 1500 miles.

We'd like to thank the entire Corporate Computer Centers' crew for all their help and encouragement,  Also supporting our effort is Instant Imprints, Electropedic Products, LapTrax, Inc., Bear's Tires, Budget Transmission and Smog, Isaac Direct, Titan Speed Engineering and Speed Ventures.

Our 2004 OTC entry is the same Pro Fabrication Sports Racer Sedan we ran last year.  Upgrades have been made to improve reliability and increase handling and braking.  The car is again powered by a sealed Kawasaki ZX-11 1100cc DOHC four cylinder engine generating 140 horsepower.  Power is transmitted through a six speed sequential transmission via a driveshaft to a solid axle rear end.  Tires are bias-ply Hoosier slicks mounted on lightweight steel wheels.  Safety features include a full tube chassis with integrated roll cage, on-board Halon fire suppression system, all steel brake and fuel lines, window nets and an eight gallon fuel cell.

The 2004 Paul Mumford Open Track Challenge should be quite an adventure!  Follow along by clicking on the links below.  A short team biography is at the bottom of the page.  Updates are also being posted by other people on the forum at http://opentrackchallenge.com.  In addition, be sure to check out the Pulp True OTC Story at Doug Hayashi's Pulp Racing web site.

There is a daily commentary, pictures and video on each day's page.  Event results and conclusions will be on the final day's page.

Mike Schriber, Driver & Team Owner
San Diego, CA
Dave Gilbertson, Driver
Vista, CA

Mike Schriber is Vice President and General Manager of Corporate Computer Centers, Inc.  He was born in Detroit Michigan and moved to San Diego in 1982.  Still a San Diego resident, Mike lives in the Sorrento Mesa area with his wife Julia and daughter Nicole.  Always a performance car enthusiast, Mike started with a 1982 Ford Mustang GT and worked his way up to a C5 Corvette Coupe in 1999.

Introduced to road racing by friends, he starting running with TCRA and later with Speed Ventures as a driver and instructor.  In 2002 Mike won first place in the Speed Ventures Corvette Challenge (STOCK2) and holds the last spot in the Speed Ventures Top Five Fastest at Spring Mountain Raceway.

In late 2002 Mike switched to a new purpose built race car and became interested in the OTC, running the event in 2003.  Although continually outpaced by his co-driver Dave Gilbertson, it was still a fun event.

Mike hasn't run a road racing event since the 2003 OTC so it's going to be interesting.  Will a solid year of indoor go-kart racing help him beat Dave?  Stay tuned!

Dave Gilbertson is a Senior Artist and 3D Modeler at Sigil Games Online.  He was born in Los Angeles California and now lives in Vista California with his wife Maria.

A long time street and off-road motorcycle enthusiast, Dave was an amateur dirt bike racer throughout the 1990's.  He also drove his sport bike at several track events.  Dave still rides his multiple motorcycles today.  Dave got his start in Road Racing in 1999 with the purchase of his third generation RX-7.  Running with TCRA and later with Speed Ventures as a driver and instructor, Dave discovered and honed is excellent skill in quickly navigating a race course.  In his relatively low powered RX-7 (with suspension modifications), Dave has often posted faster times than cars with twice the horsepower.

Dave ran fast and consistant in the 2003 OTC, beating Mike at every single track.  He even managed to have less off-road excrusuions, which is usualy his specialty.  Dave hasn't run a road racing event since the 2003 OTC but he's confident that he can still beat Mike.  Time will tell!

Also joining the team in 2004 is Steve Davis.  Steve has several RX-7's that he's preparing for the track and has experience at high performance driving schools.  A good mechanic and motorhead, Steve will be helping in the pits, with car maintenance and sharing over the road driving duties.  He's a very welcome addition to the team!
